Job Overview
I'm looking for a reliable and caring Personal Assistant to support my husband, who has Parkinson's and Parkinson's Disease Dementia, in our home in Edinburgh.
The role is primarily companionship and supervision, ensuring he is safe, comfortable and supported while I take a break from my caring responsibilities.
This role helps enable a family carer to take essential respite breaks while knowing their loved one is safe and supported.
Responsibilities
- Providing companionship and conversation
- Medication prompts and support
- Assisting with meals and snacks (food will be prepared in advance)
- Ensuring safety and wellbeing while at home
- Accompanying short walks or activities if appropriate
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to listen actively and convey information clearly
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a caring attitude and patience when engaging with clients
- Ability to work independently while maintaining professionalism and discretion
Hours
Up to 23 hours per week available.
Applications are welcome from individuals looking for only part of these hours, as the role may be shared between more than one Personal Assistant.
Hours are mainly at weekends, with some daytime weekday hours available.
About You
Experience is welcomed but not essential. A kind, patient and reliable nature is the most important quality.
Applicants should be a member of the PVG Scheme or be willing to undergo a PVG check prior to starting the role.
Pay
£14 per hour
