About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across software development, architecture and engineering delivery.
You'll remain hands-on while helping shape technical direction, improve engineering practices and mentor software engineers. This is an opportunity to take ownership of important technical decisions while working closely with product, engineering and business teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development and delivery of scalable software applications.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to software engineers.
- Contribute to software architecture, system design and technical strategy.
- Review code and promote high standards for quality, security and maintainability.
- Work with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Support Agile development practices, including sprint planning, technical discussions and retrospectives.
- Help improve development processes, tooling, testing and deployment practices.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and support effective solutions.
- Contribute directly to software development and code reviews.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven professional experience in software engineering.
- Experience leading technical projects or providing technical direction to an engineering team.
- Strong programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design and development practices.
- Experience with APIs, databases, version control and automated testing.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with microservices or distributed systems.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience designing cloud-native applications.
- Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical career development.
