Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and team cohesion
- Oversee food production processes to maintain consistency, quality, and safety standards
- Develop new menu ideas in collaboration with management, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene practices at all times
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen operations
- Train and mentor junior staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge in culinary techniques
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Serve dishes to guests when required, providing excellent customer service
Requirements
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
- Strong skills in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Experience in menu development and food presentation
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential depending on experience
