Job Summary - (working hours between 7:30am-6:00pm , Monday-Friday)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Early Years Practitioner to support the leadership of our nursery team. You will play a key role in ensuring high standards of care, learning, and development for children aged 0-5years, while supporting staff and contributing to continuous improvement. The ideal applicant will possess strong management and leadership skills, alongside a passion for early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example in delivering high-quality early learning and childcare
- Support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting
- Plan and implement engaging learning experiences in line with Curriculum for Excellence / Realising the Ambition
- Act as a key worker, building strong, positive relationships with children and families
- Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate standards and guidance
- Support, mentor, and supervise staff, students and volunteers
- Maintain accurate observations, assessments, and children’s records
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment
Requirements
- SCQF Level 8 (or above) in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent
- Registration (or eligibility to register) with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- Experience in a senior or supervisory role within an early years setting
- Strong knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and Realising the Ambition
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- A genuine passion for early years care and education
