East Durham College is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Curriculum – Land Based (Plants, Environment and Adults) to lead and develop an exciting area of provision that includes subjects such as Floristry, Arboriculture and Countryside. This is an outstanding opportunity for an innovative educational leader to drive curriculum excellence, student success and sector growth.
Reporting to the Curriculum Director, you will take responsibility for the strategic leadership, development and performance of your curriculum area. You will ensure programmes are responsive to industry needs, local labour market demands and student aspirations while maintaining the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading curriculum design, implementation and continuous improvement.

Managing and developing teaching teams to achieve outstanding learner outcomes.

Monitoring student progress, achievement and satisfaction.

Building strong partnerships with employers, industry stakeholders and professional bodies.

Driving recruitment, curriculum growth and quality improvement.

Ensuring compliance with awarding body, funding and regulatory requirements.

We are looking for a passionate and driven leader who can demonstrate:

A degree or recognised industry qualification in a relevant land-based subject area (Floristry, Arboriculture or Countryside).

A recognised post-16 teaching qualification.

A successful track record of curriculum leadership and delivering high-quality educational provision.
-
Experience of improving teaching, learning and assessment through effective coaching and mentoring.

Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements, curriculum planning and quality assurance.

Excellent organisational, communication and data analysis skills.
-
Experience of working with employers, awarding organisations and external stakeholders.
