The role
We are seeking a Strategic Account Manager to join our Account Management team in EMEA. In this role, you will lead the business relationship and customer journey for a portfolio of strategic customers. You will be responsible for building long-term partnerships by creating collaborative opportunities that position Sedex as a trusted strategic partner, driving value, customer success, and sustainable profitability over the long term.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in account management, with a strong track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder relationships. You will also have exposure to the ESG and sustainability landscape, along with a genuine passion for this space. As a trusted advisor to your customers, you will help them navigate sustainability challenges and best practices, making a strong interest in ESG and responsible business essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop the customer retention and growth strategy.
- Produce and embed individual Account Management Plans for every customer, setting out defined goals and measures of success.
- Develop a pipeline of opportunities to manage and measure business growth, retention forecasting and customers at risk.
- Set and manage customer expectations and service level agreements, ensuring that all key internal stakeholders are engaged and supportive of the approach.
- Explore and expand the relationship between Sedex and the customer, through engaging and demonstrating the value of Sedex beyond the operational team.
- Proactively explore up-sell opportunities throughout your customer base and deliver against revenue KPI’s.
- Actively collaborate in the optimisation of the customer experience journey by sharing knowledge about customer behaviours, problems/challenges they are facing and work with the Sedex product team to explore solutions.
- Take overall ownership of every opportunity won, working closely & collaborating with a variety of internal business teams, ensuring that opportunities are delivered with high customer satisfaction.
- Manage customer renewals and contract negotiations in accordance with internal governance and processes.
- Promote and embed new tools and services across your customer base.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
5+ years’ experience in an account management or sales role.
Experience in the ESG/Sustainability Space.
Results driven, target focussed and able to prove experience of growing accounts.
- To be driven to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, ever-changing environment, and can organise & prioritise your work independently.
- Able to demonstrate experience in managing a full sales cycle successfully and to demonstrate that targets can be met (ideally overachieved).
Experience in creating and strengthening customer and internal relationships. Demonstrable experience of managing executive relationships with the enterprise and strategic accounts, building rapport and confirming Sedex as a critical partner to our customer base.
Innovative and creative in finding solutions that will exceed customer expectations.
Critical and creative thinking, with the ability to be agile in an ever changing environment.
Strong listening skills and ability to communicate effectively and adapt style to all levels of subject understanding.
Excellent information gathering and verbal / written presentation skills as well as meticulous attention to detail.
Knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Office and ideally Gainsight.
Proven track record of taking ownership, meeting targets and driving results.
