Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mobile Tyre & Mechanical Technician to provide on-site tyre repair, replacement, and light mechanical services at customer locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and repair services efficiently and safely while providing excellent customer service. In addition to tyre fitting, the role includes brake disc and pad replacement, battery fitting, puncture repairs, wheel balancing, and other light mechanical repairs that can be completed from a fully equipped mobile service vehicle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical knowledge who enjoys working independently in a customer-facing role.
Duties
- Drive the company mobile service van safely to customer locations, ensuring punctual arrival for scheduled appointments and emergency roadside call-outs.
- Carry out mobile tyre repairs, replacements, wheel balancing, and puncture repairs.
- Inspect tyres for damage, tread wear, and correct inflation, providing professional advice to customers.
- Replace brake discs and brake pads to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform battery replacements and basic vehicle diagnostics where required.
- Carry out light mechanical repairs, including suspension components, wheel bearings, bulbs, wiper blades, and other minor maintenance tasks suitable for a mobile workshop.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to remove, install, and balance tyres and complete mechanical repairs.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections to identify additional maintenance or safety issues.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and health & safety regulations.
- Maintain the company mobile service vehicle, ensuring it is clean, organised, fully stocked, and roadworthy at all times.
- Complete job sheets, service records, and customer paperwork accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, maintenance recommendations, and tyre care advice.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste tyres, brake components, and other materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
Skills & Experience
- Strong mechanical knowledge of tyre systems, brakes, suspension, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Experience fitting tyres, balancing wheels, repairing punctures, and replacing brake discs and pads.
- Knowledge of battery replacement, wheel alignment (desirable), and basic vehicle servicing.
- Proficient in using tyre fitting equipment, wheel balancers, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to diagnose basic mechanical faults and carry out repairs independently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and manage time effectively.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting tyres, wheels, and equipment safely.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Previous experience as a Mobile Tyre Technician, Vehicle Technician, or Mechanic is preferred.
Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
