AutoTyne Newcastle is looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing workshop team.
We want to be very clear from the start: this is a genuine £39,000 basic salary. This is not an “up to” figure, not an OTE figure, not dependent on bonus targets, and not a salary range that gets negotiated down at interview. If you are the right person for the role, the salary is £39,000 basic.
We are looking for a capable, reliable and hard-working mechanic who takes pride in doing the job properly. You will be working on a wide range of used vehicles, carrying out preparation work, servicing, diagnostics, repairs and general mechanical duties to help ensure our vehicles are prepared to a high retail standard.
This role would suit someone who is confident in a busy workshop environment and wants a stable, well-paid position with a growing independent motor dealer.
What you will be doing
You will be responsible for carrying out mechanical repairs and preparation work on used vehicles, including servicing, brakes, suspension, clutches, diagnostics, fault finding and general maintenance.
You will work closely with the wider team to make sure vehicles are prepared efficiently, safely and to a good standard before sale. The role will involve diagnosing faults, recommending repairs, completing work properly and helping keep the workshop organised and productive.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone with strong mechanical experience who can work independently and take ownership of jobs. A Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience would be preferred, but proven ability and the right attitude are just as important.
You should be confident carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostics on a variety of vehicles. You should also be reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team.
An MOT Tester qualification would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
