Thermal Spa Attendant - The Bedford Swan Hotel
40 hours per week
Job Summary
The Bedford Swan Hotel, located right on the Great Ouse river, is one of Bedford’s landmark hotels – a busy 137-bedroom hotel with a high-end brasserie, afternoon tea room, thriving C&B department and our beautiful Thermal Spa.
Our Thermal Spa offers both hotel guests and non-residents the opportunity to relax and unwind, featuring a vitality pool and a range of thermal experiences in a peaceful and welcoming environment.
We are part of Distinct Group Ltd, who operate hotels and hospitality venues focused on service excellence, teamwork and guest experience. We are proud members of the Hoteliers’ Charter, committed to fairness, inclusion and employee wellbeing.
We are looking for a Thermal Spa Attendant who is passionate about providing excellent customer service, has great attention to detail and enjoys taking responsibility for creating an exceptional guest experience.
This is a varied and hands-on position, ideal for someone who is proactive, organised and confident working independently.
What you will be doing:
You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the Thermal Spa, ensuring our guests receive a warm welcome and enjoy a relaxing, safe and memorable experience.
Your responsibilities will include welcoming and checking in guests, explaining the thermal experience and facilities, serving drinks and responding to guest queries throughout their visit.
You will ensure all areas of the spa are presented to the highest standard at all times, including maintaining cleanliness and presentation, managing towels and laundry, replenishing supplies and preparing the spa for guests.
Health & Safety is an important part of this role. You will complete required safety checks and ensure equipment and plant are operating correctly, reporting any concerns promptly and following the appropriate procedures.
Full training will be provided, and applicants must be willing to undertake relevant pool plant and lifeguard training as part of the role.
Please note that the Thermal Spa is a thermal experience only and does not offer beauty or spa treatments.
What you will bring to the team:
You will be friendly, approachable and passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
You will be hands-on and proactive, with excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
As there will be occasions where you will be responsible for operating the spa independently, you will need to be comfortable and motivated working on your own and confident taking responsibility for the guest experience and day-to-day operation.
Previous experience within a hotel, spa, leisure, hospitality or customer-facing environment would be beneficial, although the right attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
The Thermal Spa is open seven days a week, so flexibility is essential. You will be required to work a mixture of early and late shifts, including weekends. Early shifts start at 7am and late shifts finish at 9pm.
What’s on Offer?
- 40-hour contract, working five days out of seven, including weekends.
- Part-time opportunities may also be considered, although weekend working will still be required.
- Supported internal and external training, including relevant qualifications and apprenticeships.
- Genuine career development opportunities within a growing hotel group.
- Staff discounts on accommodation, food and beverage.
- Access to retail, leisure and lifestyle discounts, including supermarkets, high street and online retailers plus restaurants.
- Discounted health screening and gym memberships.
- Wellbeing support, including a free and confidential 24/7 employee assistance helpline.
- Salary Sacrifice Cycle to work and pension schemes.
- Employee of the month/year rewards.
- Length of service rewards.
If Bedford Swan Hotel sounds like an exciting opportunity for your next career move and you would love to be part of our Thermal Spa team, we would love to hear from you.
Send us your CV and tell us why you would be a perfect fit for us.
