Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable Part Time School Transport Driver to safely and efficiently transport students to and from school. This role involves operating a school bus or similar vehicle, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers throughout the journey. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a clean driving record, and a responsible attitude towards vehicle maintenance and safety regulations. This position offers flexible hours suitable for individuals seeking part-time employment with a focus on community service and student safety.
Duties
- Safely operate a school bus or designated vehicle along established routes to transport students to and from school.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers by adhering to traffic laws and school policies at all times.
- Assist students in boarding and disembarking, providing support as necessary for those with special needs.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before each shift, checking tyres, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as refuelling, cleaning the vehicle interior and exterior, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students regarding schedules or any unforeseen delays.
- Maintain accurate records of routes completed, student attendance, and vehicle condition.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a secure environment for passengers and other road users.
Requirements
- Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- A Clean DBS/no criminal record
- Proven experience in driving vehicles is desirable.
- Strong communication skills in English to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Responsible attitude with excellent organisational skills and punctuality.
- Prior experience as a delivery driver or similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours that may include mornings and afternoons aligned with school schedules.
A West Lindsey Taxi badge is required for this role, but the company will assist in applying for this and pay for the badge.
Pay: From £12.85 per hour
