Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Machine Driver to operate heavy machinery, specialising in excavators and other commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge and experience in commercial driving, ensuring safe and efficient handling of equipment across various construction or industrial sites. Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery with precision and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials across the site
- Follow detailed operational instructions from site supervisors to complete tasks efficiently
- Maintain accurate records of machine usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities
- Ensure work areas are kept tidy and hazards are promptly addressed to uphold safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and optimise workflow
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly operating excavators or similar machinery
- Mechanical knowledge sufficient to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating heavy machinery (e.g., HGV licence or equivalent)
- Demonstrable understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to industrial or construction environments
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and safety compliance
- Prior experience operating excavators is highly desirable but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates
