Key Tasks:
The Buyer is responsible for executing sourcing and procurement activities that support Arnold’s manufacturing operations. This role manages transactional supplier relationships, conducts sourcing events, negotiates pricing and commercial terms, and supports cost reduction initiatives. The Buyer works closely with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Quality, and Suppliers to ensure continuity of supply, competitive costs, and on-time delivery of materials and services.
Procurement & Sourcing
· Execute RFQs, RFPs, and sourcing events for direct and indirect materials.
· Analyse supplier quotations and perform commercial evaluations.
· Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms, and service agreements.
· Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
· Support supplier selection and qualification activities.
Supplier Relationship Management
· Manage day-to-day supplier communications and performance.
· Monitor supplier quality, delivery, and responsiveness metrics.
· Resolve supply, quality, and invoice discrepancies.
· Support supplier scorecards and business reviews.
Cost Management and Value Optimization
· Perform cost breakdown and should-cost analysis.
· Identify cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities.
· Support annual procurement savings initiatives.
· Track and report savings projects and supplier cost changes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with Engineering on technical sourcing requirements and design changes.
· Support new product introductions and engineering change requests.
· Coordinate with Planning and Operations to resolve shortages and expedite critical materials.
· Work with Quality to address supplier corrective actions.
Procurement Operations and Compliance
· Maintain accurate procurement data within ERP systems.
· Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and approval processes.
· Support supplier compliance documentation.
· Assist with supplier audits and qualification activities.
Risk Management and Supply Continuity
· Support dual-source and risk mitigation strategies.
· Monitor supplier capacity and lead-time risks.
· Identify alternative sources to improve supply continuity.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
· Previous experience of sourcing, purchasing, or procurement.
· Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
· Experience within a AS9100 manufacturing environment is preferred
· Understanding of procurement processes, cost drivers, and supplier management.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement analytics.
· Strong communication and negotiation skills.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
· Supplier relationship management experience.
· Attention to detail and organisational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Customer-focused and collaborative mindset.
Desirable
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred.
· Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations preferred.
