The role: Finance & Accounting Manager
You will be working in a stimulating environment, taking ownership of the finance and accounting function.
The role is suited to someone conscientious, reliable and detail-oriented, with proven experience of a busy working environment, strong financial skills, and excellent time management. You will be a confident communicator, adaptable, hands-on, and able to prioritise work to create great outcomes.
The role covers accurate day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting records, short-term cash visibility, and timely monthly (and occasional ad hoc) management reporting to support business decisions. Payroll is not part of this role at this stage.
16-21 hours a week, to be agreed. Hybrid/Remote working will be considered for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities:
Bookkeeping and Financial Administration
● Maintain accurate, up-to-date bookkeeping records across the business
● Process and correctly code purchase invoices, expenses and other transactions
● Maintain accurate supplier and customer records
● Reconcile bank, credit card, PayPal and other payment accounts regularly
● Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences and transaction queries
● Review aged payables and receivables and flag items needing action
● Manage credit control: work with sales team to chase overdue customer accounts, agree payment plans where needed, and escalate persistent late-payers
● Process journals, accruals, prepayments and other adjustments
● Liaise with internal teams to obtain missing invoices, approvals and information
● Keep the accounting system accurate and up-to-date
Cashflow Management and Payments
● Maintain and update the company's cashflow forecast regularly
● Monitor current and projected cash availability, flagging any pressure points early
● Prepare semi-monthly payment plans based on cash availability and supplier priorities
● Manage payment scheduling
● Compare actual cash movements against forecast and lead a weekly cashflow catch-up, sharing current position, key movements and any near-term risks
Management Accounting and Reporting
● Run the monthly management accounting process, ensuring reporting is accurate and on time
● Prepare month-end journals including accruals, prepayments and adjustments
● Produce monthly Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and other core management reports
● Review performance against budget/prior periods and provide clear commentary on variances
● Support the CFO with budgets and forecasts, and update these as the business changes
● Provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed
● Translate financial information clearly for non-finance colleagues

· Internal customers (CEO, Sales team, Procurement Manager, Design team) will use your reports
What do we expect of you?
● Strong bookkeeping and reconciliation skills
● Experience completing month end processes and preparing management accounts
● Experience completing annual budgets, and ad hoc forecasts
● Cashflow forecasting and cash management experience
● Confident communicator, comfortable working closely with the CFO and wider team
● Conscientious, reliable and detail-oriented, with a practical, commercial mindset
● Excellent time management, able to manage competing deadlines in a busy, hands-on environment
● Proactive in finding and fixing issues, looking for opportunities to improve processes and outputs

Pay: £24,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
