Job Title: Area Manager - Reading, Slough, Surrey & North London

Shift pattern: Mon-Fri, 11:00 - 19:00 40hours per week

Core Responsibility
The Area Manager is responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality cleaning service delivery across multiple sites in line with contractual specifications and company standards. The role oversees compliance with health & safety legislation, company policies, and client requirements, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
The position supports effective labour deployment and adherence to site budgets, monitors consumables and equipment usage, and ensures operational efficiency across the portfolio. They provide hands-on cover where required to maintain service continuity during absences or peak periods.
In addition, the role includes supervising and supporting site teams, delivering training and toolbox talks, managing performance standards, and acting as a key point of contact for clients during site visits. The Area Manager plays a vital role in promoting a safety-first culture, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction & liaison across all allocated locations.
In summary the Area Manager has overall responsibility for operational, financial, safety and people performance across the assigned client portfolio.
Relatable experience is preferred alongside excellent communication skills.
Applicant must hold valid UK driving licence & be able to be flexible with working hours.
Role may include some overnight stays which will be funded by the company.
Key Responsibilities;
· Manage day-to-day cleaning operations across the client account, ensuring consistent service delivery and site cover where/when required.
· Manage site budgets, labour costs, consumables, and equipment spend in line with agreed financial targets.
· Monitor margin performance and implement cost control measures where required.
· Authorise and manage overtime in line with business controls.
· Manage absence, return-to-work interviews, and absence reduction strategies.
· Plan and maintain the area holiday schedule to ensure adequate staffing and operational continuity.
· Create and manage audit schedules; conduct regular site audits to ensure compliance with cleaning standards and KPIs.
· Implement and monitor corrective action plans following audit failures or site escalations.
· Plan and deliver additional works & periodic within agreed timescales and budgets.
· Plan & deliver through on site teams on first hand support all periodic works.
· Conduct regular site visits to monitor performance, support teams, and liaise with clients.
· Recruit, train, and develop team members, ensuring all mandatory training and refreshers are up to date.
· Ensure all compliance documentation, risk assessments, and safety records are completed and maintained.
· Lead accident investigations where required.
· Ensure COSHH compliance and correct chemical usage.
· Report incidents, hazards, and risks promptly, ensuring investigations and remedial actions are completed.
· Provide regular operational updates and performance reports to stake holders / management.
· Manage disciplinary, grievance, and capability processes in line with company policy.
· Conduct performance reviews and set clear objectives for site supervisors.
· Address conduct or performance concerns in a timely and compliant manner.
· Maintain professional communication with clients and support wider business needs when required.
· Follow all NIC processes & policies.
· Ensure all issues are reporting in a timely manner to your line manager
· Follow any reasonable business request from line manager
· Act as ambassador for NIC in line with NIC values at all times
