Job Purpose
The Kettle Team Leader is responsible for the safe, efficient, and productive operation of the galvanizing kettle area. The role involves leading kettle operatives, coordinating the flow of work through the galvanizing process, ensuring product quality standards are achieved, and maintaining a strong safety culture within the department.The Kettle Team Leader will ensure that production targets are met while maintaining compliance with all company procedures, quality standards, environmental requirements, and health and safety regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management
- Lead and supervise the kettle team during daily operations.
- Coordinate workload to ensure efficient movement of material through the galvanizing process.
- Monitor production schedules and prioritise work to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure correct galvanizing procedures are followed for all products.
- Minimise downtime and identify opportunities to improve productivity.
- Liaise with production planning, maintenance, and quality departments to resolve operational issues.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to kettle operatives.
- Allocate tasks and responsibilities effectively across the team.
- Train, mentor, and support employees to improve skills and performance.
- Conduct toolbox talks and communicate company objectives and safety information
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
- Experience supervising or leading a team.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Competent in completing production documentation and reports.
Desirable
- Experience operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- First Aid qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
