Solway Disability Support CIC is a small not-for-profit activity centre for people with learning disabilities based in Dumfries. We are professional and customer-centric, and our goal is to give our clients the best chance to lead as independent and happy a life as possible. They deserve the chance to live their best life just like anyone else. We want to help facilitate that by giving them opportunities for social interaction with peers, learning life skills, taking part in sports and other physical activities and offer them general fun..

We work set hours each week, with no shift work, outreach or weekend work.
Overview:
We are seeking a support worker to join our team supporting people with learning disabilities within our centre, but also out and about at sports clubs, swimming pools, shops etc.
Ideally you will have some experience of autism, aspergers, down's syndrome and cvi, amongst other conditions. You will enjoy interacting with a variety of characters and a wide age range. You will have good communication skills and a good sense of humour.
You will work as part of our team helping to promote good physical and mental health & wellbeing by supporting our clients to access a variety of sports within the Disability Sports clubs as well as taking them swimming. We do lots of walking in the grounds as well as through town. We encourage them to use local transport such as buses, practice independent life skills such as cooking, laundry, bed making and more.
We do not offer any personal care, so you will not be required to provide any.
