Are you an organised and enthusiastic person looking to build a career in local democracy, governance and administration?
We are looking for a keen, motivated individual to join our busy, friendly and supportive Democratic Service team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of local government, supporting the democratic decision-making process and helping to ensure that council meetings are conducted efficiently and effectively. You will play a key role in helping to deliver strong effective governance.
You will assist with the administration of a range of council committees and other formal meetings, prepare agendas and reports, attend meetings, produce accurate minutes and provide support and advice to councillors and officers across the organisation. We are looking for an organised team-player with a positive, flexible attitude. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, be able to work to deadlines, possess good IT skills, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
You will have opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, gaining valuable experience in local democracy, governance and political decision making. The council supports professional development with the opportunity to undertake recognised qualifications including the Certificate in Democratic Services Knowledge (Association of Democratic Services Officers).
