As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people in all aspects of their daily lives, helping them to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality care and support in line with children's care plans.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting education, activities, appointments, and community engagement.
- Encouraging independence and life skills development.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Completing daily records, reports, and safeguarding documentation.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Supporting young people during periods of emotional distress using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Managing physical behaviours that can arise during periods of dysregulation or distress
- Assist in the provision and preparation of meals in the Home and undertake other domestic tasks including cooking and laundry/ironing.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Use IT to write detailed accurate and factual written reports.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Passion for improving the lives of children and young people.
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to undertake).
- Previous experience within children's residential care, education, health care, supported living, youth work, or similar settings.
- CPI/PBM/Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training.
- Experience supporting young people with learning disabilities, autism, or complex needs.
