Role Characteristics:
Dalkia is seeking an experienced Health & safety Advisor to support our Nuclear South team in solving complex organisational and operational challenges through people-based safety solutions and allow us to grow our unique culture as we grow the business. You'll be an integral part of the team, so you'll need to understand every aspect of the business and act as a leader regarding HSE within the Sizewell team. You will be guiding supervisors and managers through H&S in what is an exciting time of growth for the Dalkia Nuclear South team. Your ability to establish your personal and functional credibility and to build strong working relationships acting as a trusted advisor will be key. This is a full-time opportunity based in the SouthEast working from the Sizewell B Power Station office. Travel will be required to other Southern Dalkia sites / Offices to support the growing portfolio of projects within the Nuclear South business, attend training or peer groups.
Accountabilities:
The role is responsible for providing proactive and expert Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) support across Dalkia Projects, partnering closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, and the wider business to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-performing working environment. Acting as a key member of both Dalkia's internal teams and the client's integrated safety function, the position plays a critical part in driving a positive safety culture, assuring compliance, and continuously improving operational performance through insight, collaboration, and leadership.
Key accountabilities include:
Business Partnering & Advisory
Partner with project and site leadership teams to embed best practice and maintain safe working environments
Act as the focal point for all health and safety matters within the assigned area
Work collaboratively within the client's integrated safety team and alongside contract partners
Risk, Compliance & Assurance
Review and challenge Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), POWRA, and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW)
Monitor site compliance against Dalkia policies, legislation, and ISO standards (e.g. ISO 45001)
Conduct HSSE audits and inspections, identifying risks and driving corrective actions
Lead or support the development and continuous improvement of safety management systems
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track and analyse leading and lagging indicators, providing accurate data and insights to senior leadership
Prepare monthly reports, statistics, and presentations to inform decision-making
Support pre-qualification and bid processes across HSEQ components
Incident Management & Continuous Improvement
Lead or support investigations into incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses
Identify root causes and implement preventative measures to avoid reoccurrence
Ensure learnings are captured and embedded across the business
Stakeholder Engagement & Culture
Promote a strong safety culture through behavioural safety initiatives
Engage the workforce to drive ownership of health and safety practices
Work with leadership and HR to design and deliver targeted safety initiatives
Support subcontractors and suppliers in improving HSE performance and compliance
Training & Capability Building
Deliver high-quality, risk-based HSE training to teams and stakeholders
Establish effective communication channels to ensure consistent safety messaging
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:
An industry recognised qualification such as the NEBOSH General or Equivalent
H&S MSc /Chartered MIOSH status (Preferred but not essential)
Ideally 3 years of experience in a Construction site environment.
Nuclear Experience Preferred
Experience of maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards such as ISO45001
Desirable:
Ideally 3 years of HSE experience in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated environments.
In-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
Must have strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills and be able to build relationships and advise senior management.
Self-motivated with excellent time and priority management
High levels of IT literacy
Remains calm under pressure.
