We have a great opportunity for someone to join the Bernard Matthews Sunderland Family and be part of a well-established Operations/Hygiene Team in our Low Risk Department, to maintain the hygiene requirements of the factory areas to an audit ready standard where there is minimal risk to food safety, legality, quality and authenticity. Ensure that day hygiene operatives in nominated department complete all tasks to satisfactory standard.
Essential Criteria
- Supervise, motivate, schedule, and train hygiene operatives, ensuring correct PPE usage and adherence to procedures.
- Ensure all areas, machinery, and equipment meet stringent cleanliness, food safety and H&S standards
- Oversee daily/weekly cleaning tasks, manage cleaning equipment and coordinate with production teams.
- Ensure hygiene operatives clean machines as required using the methods stated in the appropriate Cleaning Instruction Card (CIC)
- Safe Use of Chemicals: Ensure cleaning chemicals are controlled and locked. Ensure that chemicals are dosed correctly via the Dema units.
- Complete allergen inspection and swabs after an allergen clean as completed by day hygiene operatives.
- Complete hygiene records, perform checks (ATP swabbing, chemical concentration), and support internal/external audits.
- Control cleaning material stock, manage orders, and report on budget adherence Identify H&S issues, ensure chemical safety, and report hazards.
- Maintain high standards
Experience
- Previous experience in a hygiene or cleaning leadership role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and understanding of cleaning protocols.
- FMCG experience essential
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH

36.66 hours per week
AM Shift 06:00pm - 14:00pm, Sunday to Thursday
