Trainee Spreader Operator — Build a Long-Term Career with an Established Family Business
Location: Wimblington, near March, Cambridgeshire (working across East Anglia)
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: From £13.00 per hour to start, rising to £15.50+ once you're a fully trained operator
Are you keen on the agricultural industry and eager to learn a real skill? This is an opportunity to join a family-run manufacturer, established in 1985, and be trained from the ground up — with a clear path to becoming a head operator.
The role
You'll start out working alongside our experienced operators on customers' farms, learning the job hands-on. Part of the day is driving a trailed spreader to and from farms on the road, so you'll need to be confident with a tractor and trailer. As you progress, you'll be fully trained to run our Bredal spreaders yourself — and, for the right person, to step up to head operator.
What you'll need
- A real interest in agriculture and a genuine willingness to learn
- Experience driving a tractor and trailer on the road
- Reliable, hardworking and ambitious — someone who wants a career, not just a job
- A full UK driving licence
What we offer
- Full training on the Bredal spreading system
- A clear route to progress to head operator, with your pay rising as your skills grow
- A secure, permanent position with an established local business that invests in its people
- The support of experienced operators as you learn
- Overtime available through the busy spring and autumn seasons
Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
