Post No. POSN005158 - Trainee Welsh Language Translation Assistant
Start your career in professional translation with Newport City Council.
We're looking for a fluent Welsh speaker with excellent written Welsh and English skills to join our Translation Team. This trainee role offers the opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience of translating a wide variety of documents. As part of the role, you will be required to undertake and complete the Level 4 Course in Translation Practice (Welsh Language).
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent school, college or university leaver, or anyone looking to begin a career in translation. No formal translation experience is required – just a passion for the Welsh language, strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
The role offers excellent flexibility and can be carried out on a fully remote basis, with occasional attendance in Newport for training, meetings and events.
If you're passionate about the future of the Welsh language and want to gain a recognised qualification while earning and learning, we'd love to hear from you.
If you have any questions about the role, please contact Liam Flynn:

We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.
Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
