A warm, inclusive and forward-thinking SEND school in Epping is seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join its expanding team. The school places strong emphasis on investing in its staff, offering extensive training, qualifications and professional development to support long-term career progression.
You will work with primary-aged pupils (5–11 years) who have a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASC, ADHD and SLD. Classes are small, typically around five pupils, allowing staff to deliver personalised, high-impact support and build meaningful, trusting relationships.
The school has a strong outdoor learning ethos and a well-established Forest School programme, providing pupils with opportunities to develop confidence, emotional regulation and resilience through hands-on, nature-based learning. Full training and ongoing support are provided to enable staff to deliver these sessions effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high-quality 1:1 and small-group support
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging, inclusive lessons
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour and independence
- Leading or supporting Forest School and outdoor learning activities
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff
- HLTAs may also cover lessons or lead targeted group interventions
Person Specification
- Experience supporting children with SEND (SEMH, ASC, ADHD and SLD) is essential or highly desirable
- Calm, patient and nurturing, with strong relationship-building skills
- Confident in behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
- Comfortable working both outdoors and in the classroom
- Reliable, proactive and committed to ongoing professional development
- HLTA applicants should hold HLTA status or have relevant equivalent experience
