Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled 360 excavator operator and groundworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, primarily the 360 excavator, to carry out excavation and ground preparation tasks on various construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, safe operating procedures, and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment. Duties
- Operate 360 excavators safely and efficiently to perform excavation, trenching, and site clearance tasks.
- Assist with groundworks including levelling, digging, and site preparation activities.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times, recognising potential hazards and implementing appropriate safety measures.
- Collaborate with other groundworkers and site personnel to ensure smooth workflow and project progression.
- Assist with the movement of materials around the site using appropriate equipment such as lorries or telehandlers when required.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and machinery are stored correctly after use.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating 360 excavators in a construction environment.
- Mechanical knowledge sufficient to identify basic issues with machinery and assist with minor repairs or reporting faults.
- Valid commercial driving licence (e.g., LGV or HGV) is desirable for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
- Relevant groundworking experience is preferred but not essential for highly motivated candidates willing to learn.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures related to heavy machinery operation and construction sites.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy loads safely when necessary.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
