The Role
As a Senior Python Programmer, you will design, build, and optimise to build and maintain
automation solutions, backend services, and tooling that support large-scale telecom network
operations. You will develop REST APIs, automation scripts, and data-driven applications that enable
testing, monitoring, and operational efficiency across 5G and enterprise platforms.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation frameworks and scripts fornetwork testing, data processing, and operational workflows
- Design and build RESTful APIs using Flask/FastAPI to expose services for internaltooling and cross-team integration
- Create and manage web-based dashboards and interfaces usingHTML/CSS/JavaScript for reporting and monitoring
- Design and interact with SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis)databases for test data, configuration, and results management
- Build and maintain Docker containers for application packaging, deployment, andisolated testing environments
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines integrating Python automation intoJenkins/GitLab for continuous delivery
- Write and maintain Linux shell scripts and manage application deployments onLinux-based servers
- Integrate with telecom network systems and APIs for automated validation,health checks, and service monitoring
- Implement logging, error handling, and monitoring solutions to ensure reliabilityof automation services
- Collaborate with QA, network engineering, and DevOps teams to identifyautomation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Strong proficiency in building REST APIs using Flask or FastAPI with properauthentication, error handling, and documentation
- Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS and templating engines (Jinja2) for building lightweight web interfaces
- Solid working knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) — schema design, queries, and optimization
- Proficient in Linux environments — shell scripting (Bash), cron jobs, process management, and server administration
- Experience building and deploying applications using Docker containers and Docker Compose
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) and version control (Git)
- Experience with Python libraries for automation — requests, paramiko, subprocess, schedule, pandas
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH) and APIintegration patterns
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience in telecom domain or network automation (4G Core, 5G, SBA)
- Knowledge of message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka) and event-driven architectures
- Experience with cloud platforms (Openstack) and infrastructure-as-code
- Familiarity with Pytest, Selenium, or Playwright for test automation
- Knowledge of Grafana, ELK stack, or Prometheus for monitoring
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery practices
Pay: £36,667.30-£112,586.64 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Belfast
