This is a 9-12 month contract role with a local authority, focused on supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Council's financial management systems and finance-related projects. The postholder will play a crucial role in leading and supporting system upgrades, financial transformation initiatives, and process improvements to ensure the Council maintains robust, efficient, and compliant financial management arrangements.
Responsibilities

Lead and support financial system implementation and upgrade projects.

Assist with the strategic development of financial management and procurement systems.

Support the maintenance, configuration, and ongoing development of financial systems.

Project manage financial system reviews, upgrades, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.

Liaise with software providers, consultants, ICT teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects.

Develop project plans, monitor progress, and report outcomes to senior management.
Requirements:
Essential Experience Required-
Experience working within a Local Government finance environment.

Experience supporting or delivering finance systems projects and upgrades.

Experience using corporate financial management systems.

Essential Qualifications Required
-
Part-qualified or fully qualified Accountant (AAT or equivalent professional qualification).

Relevant finance, accountancy, or systems experience.
Additional Information

Working hours: 37 hours per week, with consideration for 3 or 4 days.

The role requires a basic DBS.

Hybrid working in Brentwood.

Compensation: £35-£40 umbrella.
