Field Sales / Technical Sales Executive – Smart Building, Lighting & IoT
Location: UK – customer-facing / field-based role
About the Role
Keywave Technology is looking for a proactive, hands-on sales person to develop new B2B customers for our radar sensors, smart lighting products, IoT modules and related electronic solutions.
This is a new-business sales role, not an account-management position.
You will be expected to actively find potential customers, identify the right decision-makers, contact them by email, phone and LinkedIn, arrange meetings and product demonstrations, follow up on evaluations, and develop opportunities into commercial orders.
Our target customers include lighting-control manufacturers, smart-building companies, IoT companies, HVAC and building-automation businesses, electrical-product manufacturers, OEMs and product-development companies.
We already sell through channels including DigiKey, PiHut and our own online store. Your main responsibility will be to build direct B2B opportunities beyond these existing channels.
What You Will Do
- Research and identify companies that could use our sensors, modules and finished products.
- Find relevant contacts including Engineering Managers, Product Managers, R&D teams, NPD teams, Technical Directors and purchasing contacts.
- Make regular outbound contact through email, telephone and LinkedIn.
- Generate your own leads rather than relying only on inbound enquiries.
- Introduce Keywave products and identify suitable customer applications.
- Arrange online and face-to-face customer meetings.
- Demonstrate products and evaluation kits where appropriate.
- Understand what customers currently use and what problems they are trying to solve.
- Follow up consistently after meetings, quotations, samples and product evaluations.
- Work with our technical team when customers require deeper engineering support.
- Develop opportunities from initial contact through evaluation, quotation and commercial order.
- Maintain clear records of contacts, opportunities, next actions and follow-up dates.
- Follow up suitable customers and enquiries generated through exhibitions, DigiKey, PiHut and our online channels.
- Visit prospective and existing customers across the UK when required.
Products and Applications
You will be selling practical products and solutions including:
- Human-presence sensors
- Microwave radar motion sensors
- Smart-lighting sensing solutions
- Microwave relay and lighting-control products
- Evaluation kits and development products
- Custom and OEM sensing solutions
Typical applications include smart lighting, occupancy detection, energy saving, HVAC control, smart buildings, automation, appliances and Edge AI systems.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is comfortable doing the actual sales work.
You should be:
- Proactive and comfortable approaching companies that do not already know us.
- Confident making outbound calls and writing targeted sales emails.
- Able to research companies and find the correct people to contact.
- Persistent with follow-up.
- Comfortable visiting customers and demonstrating physical products.
- Interested in technology and able to understand technical products at a practical level.
- Organised and able to manage a growing sales pipeline.
- Commercially minded and able to recognise long-term OEM opportunities.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of generating new business.
Useful Experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- Lighting or lighting controls
- Electrical products
- Smart buildings
- Building automation or BMS
- Sensors or electronic modules
- IoT products
- HVAC controls
- Embedded electronics
- OEM sales
- Electronic components or technical products
You do not need to be an electronics engineer, but you should be comfortable discussing technical products with engineers and product-development teams.
Existing contacts within the lighting, smart-building, electrical or IoT industries would be a strong advantage.
What Success Looks Like
This role will be measured not only by revenue but also by consistent sales activity and development of new opportunities.
Typical activities will include:
- Building new target-company lists
- Identifying and contacting new prospects every week
- Creating qualified customer opportunities
- Arranging customer meetings and demonstrations
- Starting product evaluations
- Following evaluations through to commercial decisions
- Building a growing pipeline of OEM and B2B customers
Important
This position is most suitable for someone who enjoys finding opportunities and opening doors.
If you prefer mainly managing established accounts or waiting for inbound sales leads, this is unlikely to be the right role.
If you enjoy researching potential customers, contacting them directly, visiting them, demonstrating products and turning an initial conversation into a real project, we would like to hear from you.
Pay: £1,500.00-£5,000.00 per month
