Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Rolling Mill Operative to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining rolling mill equipment, ensuring the production of high-quality metal products. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills within the metal fabrication industry, with a focus on safety, precision, and efficiency. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen interest in mechanical processes and metalworking. must be flexible with shift patterns will be looking at changing shifts and introducing a night shift.
Responsibilities
- Operate rolling mill machinery to produce metal sections and strips according to specified dimensions and quality standards
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Perform fabrication tasks
- Apply basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks
- Assist in setting up machines for different production runs and changeovers
- Monitor production processes to identify and resolve issues promptly
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations
Experience
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing roles is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Knowledge of sheet metal handling, assembly techniques, and mechanical systems is advantageous
- Familiarity with hand tools, tooling, and basic measurement instruments is preferred
- Basic understanding of maths related to measurements and calculations in a manufacturing setting is beneficial
- Prior experience working with fabrication equipment or in a production environment will be considered an asset
