Location: Moss View School
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Main Pay Scale – up to M6
Start Date: ASAP to be discussed and agreed based on individual circumstances
About Moss View School
Moss View School is a new and growing independent specialist primary school supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Having opened in January 2026, Moss View has grown quickly and we are now preparing to open our fourth class. We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and resilient Primary SEMH Teacher to lead this new class and join us at an exciting stage in the school's development.
Our approach is deliberately small, nurturing and highly supportive. Classes have a maximum of 8 pupils, with each class supported by 1 Teacher and 2 Key Workers. This enables staff to build strong relationships with pupils and provide the consistency, structure and individualised support our children need to succeed.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to establish and lead a brand-new class within a growing specialist school.
As the Class Teacher, you will take responsibility for the learning, progress and day-to-day leadership of your class, working closely with two Key Workers to create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment.
Our pupils have a range of SEMH and additional needs and may have experienced significant disruption to their education. Building trusting relationships, establishing clear boundaries and supporting pupils to regulate, engage and experience success in education are central to the role.
You will deliver an adapted primary curriculum that is ambitious, engaging and appropriate to pupils' individual starting points, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
Curriculum & Planning Support
Teachers at Moss View are supported by established curriculum programmes and resources, including:
- Curriculum Maestro – providing structured and sequenced curriculum planning across the wider curriculum
- Little Wandle Letters and Sounds – supporting the delivery of phonics and early reading
- Established assessment and progress-tracking systems
- Specialist SEMH training and ongoing professional development
Our curriculum frameworks provide teachers with a strong foundation while allowing the flexibility required to adapt learning to meet the individual needs of our pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and take responsibility for a class of up to 8 pupils
- Work collaboratively with 2 Key Workers to provide a consistent and supportive classroom environment
- Plan and deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated learning across the primary curriculum
- Adapt teaching to reflect pupils' individual needs, starting points and EHCP outcomes
- Establish clear routines, expectations and boundaries within the classroom
- Use positive, relational and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour and emotional regulation
- Confidently manage behaviour that may at times be challenging
- Support pupils to develop their independence, resilience and engagement with learning
- Assess and monitor pupil progress and use this information to inform future teaching
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, target setting and wider pupil planning
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Work effectively with parents, carers, colleagues and external professionals
- Contribute to the continued development of our curriculum and wider school as Moss View grows
About You
We are looking for a teacher who understands that successful teaching within an SEMH setting is about much more than delivering lessons. The ability to build relationships, remain calm and consistent and respond confidently to challenging situations is essential.
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
- Have experience of teaching within the primary age range
- Have experience of, or a strong understanding of, children with SEMH and SEND
- Be confident supporting children who may present with challenging or dysregulated behaviour
- Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Be calm, patient, resilient and consistent
- Understand the importance of relationships when supporting children with SEMH needs
- Be able to adapt teaching and expectations to meet a range of individual needs
- Be able to lead and work effectively with the Key Workers supporting your class
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Be enthusiastic about joining a new and developing specialist school
Previous experience within an SEMH or specialist education setting would be highly desirable.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to establish and lead our new fourth class
- Classes of no more than 8 pupils
- Excellent staffing ratios, with 2 Key Workers supporting each class
- Established curriculum frameworks and planning resources
- A supportive and approachable leadership team
- Regular professional development and specialist SEMH training
- The opportunity to contribute to the development of a school that has grown significantly since opening in January 2026
- A close-knit staff team where ideas and professional expertise are valued
- A genuinely rewarding role supporting children to reconnect with education and experience success
For the right teacher, this is an opportunity to do more than simply take over an existing class. You will be joining Moss View at an important stage in our development and will have the opportunity to shape and establish our newest class as the school continues to grow.
