At Quantum Design Oxford we design, supply and support market-leading research tools that enable quantum technologies, nanotechnology research, advanced materials, and nanodevice development in the physical sciences. Our customers use our ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
We are offering the opportunity for a recent engineering or physics degree graduate to join us for a year working in our cryogenic engineering team on low temperature, superconducting magnet systems. This is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the design, development, and validation of our complex systems.
The opportunity
You will contribute to the process of ensuring that our designs meet customer specifications, by supporting in the assessment of the customer’s requirements, (what do those changes look like and how will they impact on the current design), designing new elements, and considering how the changes will be tested to ensure validation.
Whilst you are with us, you can expect to get involved with all aspects of a customer order from design to manufacture, test and validation. Together with the cryogenic engineering team, you will interact with the following teams, Design Office, Project, wider engineering, and Test.
About You
This 12-month contract would suit an individual that has recently completed a relevant degree subject such as engineering or physics. It would be ideal if you had knowledge of mechanical design, design processes and CAD, however training will be provided. Your ability to work as part of a team will be essential.
