We are looking for a confident, ambitious and people-focused Assistant Operations Manager to play a key leadership role across our operations. Working directly alongside the Operations Manager, you will help drive performance, standards, and engagement across our depots while ensuring our drivers feel supported, heard, and connected to management.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys being on the ground, building relationships, and taking ownership of operational standards. You will be required to work at our Inchinnan Depot, supporting day-to-day operations, providing management presence, and stepping in to support Traffic Office cover when required. Your focus will be on driver engagement, performance management, and service delivery, ensuring we operate safely, compliantly, and with our customers at the centre of everything we do.
What you’ll do:
. Be a visible and approachable management presence on-site, building strong relationships and setting clear expectations for performance and conduct.
· Lead, support, and motivate drivers across multiple depots, ensuring they feel engaged, valued, and connected to management.
· Ensure compliance with the Operator’s Licence requirements, in particular driver hours and Company KPIs.
· Work closely with the Operations Manager to deliver operational plans, performance targets, and compliance standards standing in for the Operations Manager where required.
·Provide reliable operational support, stepping in to manage daily priorities when required.
· Support and conduct driver appraisals, performance reviews, and development discussions.
· Lead on driver engagement initiatives, building trust, morale, and accountability within the driver team.
· Be the go-to support for driver queries supporting the Traffic Offices as much as possible.
· Support performance management processes, including coaching and corrective action where necessary.
· Maintain a continuous review of customer feedback, build action plans, take appropriate action to resolve any negative feedback and give praise when positive feedback has been received.
· Cover the Traffic Office duties when required.
