Workshop Assistant – Hilton Garage
Hilton Garage is looking for a reliable, hands-on Workshop Assistant to join our team. This is a practical role focused on daily vehicle checkovers, inter-site vehicle movements, and supporting the workshop team to keep our fleet and customer vehicles running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Vehicle Checkovers (Walkaround Checks)
- Check fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, screen wash).
- Inspect tyre pressure, tread depth (legal minimum 1.6 mm), and sidewalls for damage.
- Test all lights, indicators, wipers, and horn.
- Identify and log body damage, loose trim, or cracked glass.
- Check dashboard warning lights and test brakes/handbrake.
Driving Between Sites & Logistics
- Safely transfer vehicles, parts, or equipment between company sites and depots.
- Complete pre- and post-journey defect sheets or digital logs.
- Follow UK road traffic laws and company transport policies at all times.
- Park and manoeuvre vehicles safely in tight workshop and depot spaces.
General Workshop Support
- Assist technicians with light repairs, tool organisation, and parts collection.
- Keep work areas, ramps, and bays clean and free from hazards.
- Help with vehicle valeting/washing before handover or after servicing.
- Report any vehicle faults or site hazards immediately to the Workshop Supervisor.
What We’re Looking For
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Basic mechanical awareness and a practical, safety-first approach.
- Reliable, organised, and able to work as part of a busy workshop team.
- Willingness to follow strict safety guidelines when inspecting and moving vehicles.
Pay: £13.50-£16.00 per hour
