Contract: Monday-Friday 8:00-16:00. Term Time only plus INSET Days
Salary: £26,018-£27,113fte (Actual Salary £22,615.65-£23,567.45)
Purpose of the Role
Rusper Primary School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Learning Support Assistant to join our team, working predominantly with children in EYFS and Key Stage One.
Rusper is a small, nurturing village primary school with mixed-age classes. Working under the direction of the class teacher, the successful candidate will support children with their learning, development and wellbeing, both within the classroom and through individual and small-group activities.
The role would suit someone who enjoys working with young children, builds positive relationships and wants to make a genuine difference to children's experience at school.
The successful candidate will support Rusper's ethos of Play, Care, Grow, helping us provide an environment where every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Children and Learning
- Support individual children, small groups and whole-class learning under the direction of the class teacher.
- Help children engage with learning and develop their confidence, independence and resilience.
- Support children with additional needs, including SEND, using strategies agreed with the teacher and SENDCo.
- Deliver agreed learning activities and interventions and provide feedback to the class teacher about children's progress.
- Support children's communication, social and emotional development and positive relationships with others.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help children understand and follow classroom and school expectations.
- Support learning through purposeful play, practical activities and continuous provision within EYFS and Key Stage One.
- Prepare and organise resources and help maintain an engaging, safe and purposeful learning environment.
Pastoral Care and Inclusion
- Build warm, positive and professional relationships with children.
- Help ensure all children feel included, respected and able to participate fully in school life.
- Support children's wellbeing and respond sensitively to their individual needs.
- Provide appropriate personal care or physical support where required and following relevant training.
- Work positively with teachers, the SENDCo, parents/carers and other professionals supporting individual children.
Wider School Responsibilities
- Support break and lunchtime supervision as required.
- Accompany children and staff on school trips, visits and other activities.
- Attend relevant meetings, training and professional development.
- Support with appropriate classroom and administrative tasks.
- Work collaboratively as part of Rusper's small staff team and contribute positively to wider school life.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role as required.

- Complete required safeguarding training and maintain up-to-date knowledge.
