About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to-one basis with a Year 1 student at a primary school in Derby.
This rewarding role involves providing personalised support to help the pupil engage in their learning journey, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with a pupil with behavioural needs, providing tailored one-to-one support.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning strategies as required.
- Create an inclusive environment to support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure the pupil’s needs are met effectively.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help the pupil engage with classroom activities.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as appropriate.
- Personal care for the student when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs and behaviour.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the welfare of young learners.
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are advantageous but not essential.
- Someone who is confident in delivering personal care when required.
