Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Second Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, the Second Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supervising junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and presentation are maintained. Duties
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing high-quality dishes in accordance with menu specifications.
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff during service, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Oversee food production processes, including portion control, presentation, and quality assurance.
- Support in training junior chefs and kitchen assistants to maintain consistency and uphold standards.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure all food safety procedures are followed meticulously throughout food preparation and service.
Skills
- Proven experience in food production, cooking, and kitchen management within a hospitality or restaurant setting.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or team management experience.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to prepare a wide range of dishes with attention to detail and presentation.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Exceptional communication skills to lead a diverse team effectively.
- Experience in hospitality environments, including restaurant or catering services, is highly desirable.
