Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls into the category of requiring a DBS check (standard).
About the role:
There is an exciting opportunity within Health Services Laboratories located at the Whittington Hospital, to recruit a Biomedical Scientist for Haematology & Blood Transfusion.
An opportunity exists for a Full Time, Permanent, HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist wishing to work within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion sections at The Whittington Health NHS Trust.
Applicants must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and should have flexible but committed approach to working. They will need to demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to work without supervision in a team or lone working.
You will be part of a team responsible for the day to day running of the routine Haematology & Blood Transfusion section and have the opportunity to play an integral part in introducing new methodologies and technologies and providing a service of the highest standard to our service users.
Working as part of a Haematology and Blood Transfusion team, you will be responsible for performing, validating, and interpreting laboratory tests, contributing to maintaining turnaround times, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems and standard operating procedures. The role also includes involvement in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, method development, and continuous service improvement initiatives. There will be expectation to participate in the out of hours rota following completion of training.

The successful applicant will be expected to work in on a rotational basis in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion and therefore post registration experience of working in a Haematology and Blood transfusion laboratory is ESSENTIAL. Previous experience of working with Sysmex and Ortho Analysers would be beneficial.
The post holder will have opportunities for further development, with responsibilities for quality and training dependent on experience. The department has an excellent training programme to develop staff to realise their potential and career advancement.
You will be working 37.5 hrs per week on a 24/7 shift pattern.
Salaries are comparable with agenda for change pay scales dependent on experience.
