About the role
Balfour Beatty Living Places is looking for a skilled and motivated Drainage/Surfacing Operative to join our team in Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of highway maintenance and improvement projects that help keep local communities connected and moving safely.
As part of a dedicated two-person drainage and surfacing team, you will support the delivery of essential infrastructure works across the county. Working in a hands-on role, you will contribute to the construction, maintenance and improvement of highways, footways and drainage systems whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and customer service.
What you'll be doing
- Working as part of a two-person drainage and surfacing team delivering projects across Lincolnshire.
- Carrying out footway construction and highway improvement works.
- Installing kerbs, drainage systems, soakaways and highway gullies.
- Completing reinstatement works to highways and footways following maintenance activities.
- Constructing tactile crossings and installing large manhole chambers.
- Laying both base and wearing course asphalt/tarmac to a high standard.
- Setting out lines and levels for kerbing and drainage works using supplied information and drawings.
- Working safely and efficiently to deliver projects on time and to specification.
- Supporting occasional out-of-hours activities when required to meet operational needs.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a practical, reliable and safety-conscious individual who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
You will have:
- Experience in drainage, surfacing, highways or civil engineering activities.
- Proven experience laying base and wearing course asphalt/tarmac.
- The ability to interpret supplied information and set out lines and levels for drainage and kerbing works.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work on your own initiative.
- A full UK driving licence.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a positive attitude towards supporting colleagues and customers.
