Job description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cerebral Support Worker to join a warm and welcoming family, supporting their bright, energetic 3-year-old little boy. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to play a key role in a child’s development, wellbeing, and daily adventures, while providing specialist paediatric care in a loving home environment.
About Our Client
Our client is an active and curious 3-year-old boy who is mobile and wears an ankle AFO. He has haemophilia, which is managed with daily port-to-Cath medication administered by his parents. our client is also living with cerebral palsy. He is a very energetic child who loves to play.
Location: Buntingford, UK Hours: 24 - 48 hours per week Monday - Saturday 8 hour shifts. We are looking for someone flexible to support holidays away with the family.
The Role
This is a dynamic role that combines elements of paediatric care with essential family support and household duties.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Direct Clinical Support
- Monitoring the client's overall health and well-being, promptly reporting any concerns to the family or relevant healthcare professionals.
- Being vigilant for any signs of bleeding or complications related to haemophilia.
Childcare and Daily Living Support:
- Providing engaging and stimulating activities for our client. He likes playing cars on the floor.
- Assisting with personal care tasks as needed.
- Supporting the client with mobility and ensuring his safety, especially given his mobility and condition.
- Potentially transporting the client to and from rehabilitation appointments and nursery.
Family Support (during home-based hours):
- Assisting with household tasks such as washing and ironing, loading dishwasher and hoovering.
- Completing food shopping and supporting with preparing meals.
- Picking up the two older children from school, enabling the parents to dedicate more time to our client.
About You
We are looking for an empathetic, proactive, and highly organised individual with a genuine passion for paediatric care.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children with complex needs, ideally with experience in haemophilia and/or cerebral palsy.
- A valid UK driving license and access to a car.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm and compassionate demeanour, with the ability to remain composed in emergency situations.
- Flexibility to support the family on additional days and holidays away.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required.
