Job Purpose
The Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprentice will work under the supervision of registered pharmacy professionals while completing the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Standard. The apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to become a registered Pharmacy Technician, supporting the safe and effective supply of medicines and delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the safe preparation, dispensing, and supply of medicines under supervision.

Accurately receive, process, and assemble prescriptions following standard operating procedures.

Support stock management, including ordering, receiving, rotating, and checking pharmaceutical products.

Maintain accurate records using pharmacy computer systems.

Participate in the storage and disposal of medicines in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.

Support the delivery of pharmacy services, including health promotion initiatives where appropriate.

Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, carers, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data protection legislation.

Follow all health and safety, infection prevention, and safeguarding procedures.

Report incidents, errors, or concerns in accordance with organisational policies.

Complete all apprenticeship learning activities, including coursework, assessments, and workplace evidence within agreed timescales.

Attend off-the-job training as required by the apprenticeship programme.

Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Person Specification
Essential

GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics or willingness to work towards these.

Must already be a qualified Dispenser.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Training
The successful candidate will complete the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship with an approved training provider and work towards eligibility to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), subject to meeting all regulatory requirements.
