Willmotts Transport is one of the largest independent warehousing and distribution companies in the South West, based in Waterlip, just outside Shepton Mallet. Due to continued growth and success, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and driven Business Development Executive to join our team and support the next phase of our business growth.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Customer Services, this is a dynamic role focused on identifying new business opportunities, developing strong customer relationships, and supporting the continued growth of Willmotts Transport's transport, warehousing, and logistics services. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding our customer base while maintaining excellent service standards and supporting the wider sales strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across a range of sectors throughout the South West.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Conduct client visits, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
- Research market trends, competitor activity, and potential growth opportunities.
- Manage and maintain an active sales pipeline, ensuring accurate CRM records and timely follow-up actions.
- Prepare customer proposals, quotations, and presentations.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure solutions align with customer requirements and business capabilities.
- Produce sales reports, forecasts, and business development updates.
- Support and contribute to the company's marketing activities, including social media and promotional campaigns.
- Represent Willmotts Transport professionally at customer meetings, networking events, and industry exhibitions.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in business development, B2B sales, account management, or a similar commercial role.
- Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive and results-driven approach.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to build rapport and develop long-term customer relationships.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
- Professional, confident, and customer-focused.

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
