Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Salary: £13,545 per annum. Plus generous benefits, including:

About the role
We require a Technician who would be based in the Theatre, to provide technical and appropriate support to other technicians, tutors and students working in the Performance & Production curriculum.
The role will involve assisting students with their technical skills in Lighting and Sound on shows and supporting them whilst doing their role. Checking maintenance of equipment and keeping up regular cleaning of equipment. They will support in the overseeing of Health and safety within the Theatre and assist colleagues with technical rehearsals and shows. Keeping the general upkeep of the theatre and making sure it is prepared for each lesson taking place in there.
We put on many performances and shows in the theatre, and working on these shows would be a large part of the theatre technician’s role.
The role will provide day to day in-lesson support including filming student work in classes and rehearsals as required.
The successful candidate will have good hands on skills for making props and scenery for productions and ideally have experience of working in a theatre environment using sound and lighting desks.
The working hours are within college hours (8.30-17.00) but there may be occasions when you will be required to help with evening events which will be paid as overtime or can be taken back a TOIL. We anticipate the successful candidate will work the contracted hours over 2.5 days, ideally over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
About the Person
Suitable candidates will have a range of knowledge and practical skills across the Performing Arts disciplines in particular a knowledge of music and theatre audio/visual equipment, operating sound and lighting desks for the shows.
Candidates should have experience and knowledge of working theatres, and may also have experience of working in an educational setting.
The successful person would need a keen interest in Performing Arts, be enthusiastic and work well with others.
