Looking for a sociable, varied role where no two shifts are the same? This could be perfect for you.
Steventon House Hotel is a boutique 18-bedroom country house hotel with a stylish bar, our unique Rasoi Indian restaurant and beautiful gardens. We're continuing to grow our hotel, restaurant and events business and are looking for someone warm, reliable and great with people to join our small team.
This isn't a bar-only job, and it isn't a sit-at-a-desk job. You'll be one of the faces of the hotel — checking guests in, answering phones and emails, serving in the restaurant and bar, and helping to ensure our guests have a fantastic experience from arrival to departure.
If you only want bar shifts, this isn't the role. If you enjoy variety, meeting people and being at the heart of the guest experience, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing for guest arrivals — registration cards, room keys and reservation checks before check-in
- Welcoming and checking in hotel guests
- Handling reservations and taking payments
- Showing guests to their rooms and making them feel genuinely at home
- Responding to guest emails and taking room and restaurant reservations by phone and email
- Serving in the bar and restaurant — taking orders, serving food and drinks, and delivering excellent customer service
- Supporting weddings, private parties and corporate events
- Assisting with guest check-outs
- Keeping front of house areas clean, tidy and guest-ready throughout your shift
- Stepping in wherever the team needs you — we're a small team and everyone pulls together
Who We're Looking For
- At least 1 year in a customer-facing role — hospitality, retail, café or customer service experience all counts
- Genuinely comfortable with reception work and basic administration
- Warm, confident and a strong communicator
- Friendly, professional and well-presented
- Reliable, organised and punctual
- Comfortable using email and basic computer systems
- Flexible for evenings and weekends — this is when we need you most
- Aged 18 or over (required for bar work)
- Own transport is recommended due to our village location and limited public transport in the evenings
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
What We Offer
- From £13.00 – £14.00 per hour depending on experience
- Typically 24–40 hours per week depending on business levels
- Full training across reception, bar and restaurant
- A friendly team where your effort is genuinely noticed
- The opportunity to learn all aspects of hotel front-of-house operations
- Varied work with real responsibility from day one
