Overview
At Shipston Lodge Nursing Home we are seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and assisting with general kitchen duties. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a keen eye for detail, and experience working in a fast-paced culinary environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience within the hospitality sector.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and cooking under the supervision of senior kitchen staff
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, peeling, and measuring
- Support the presentation and plating of dishes to meet quality standards
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
- Assist with cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
- Ensure stock levels are maintained and notify management of supplies needed
- Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering meals to customers when required
- Follow all health and safety procedures to create a safe working environment
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices is advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety standards and procedures is preferred
- Experience in meal preparation and supporting cooking activities in a busy setting is beneficial
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A genuine interest in developing culinary skills and understanding of the hospitality industry
Pay: £12.91-£15.00 per hour
