Overview
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and gain practical experience in the field of quantity surveying. The successful candidate will assist in cost control, budgeting, and project measurement activities, supporting senior surveyors in delivering successful projects. This paid position is ideal for individuals aspiring to build a career within the construction industry, with a focus on financial management and project coordination. The company would sponsor the candidate through university 'day release' study - candidates to make their own enquiries and secure a part time place, to start September 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
- Support in measuring quantities of materials and work from drawings and specifications
- Help monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgets
- Contribute to the preparation of tender documentation and procurement schedules
- Support senior surveyors in conducting site visits and inspections
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, variations, and contractual documentation
- Assist with the compilation of progress reports and financial forecasts
- Contribute to the implementation of cost control measures throughout project lifecycle
Skills
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Good numerical ability and understanding of basic financial principles
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Basic knowledge of construction processes and terminology is desirable
- Familiarity with cost control techniques is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the industry
