We are currently searching for an experienced Deputy Manager, ideally holding a Level 3 Qualification or higher in childcare. This person should be able to inspire both parents and staff, fostering a positive team spirit. We're looking for someone with a proactive mindset, a can-do attitude, and strong organisational and delegation skills.
Key responsibilities include
· Managing daily operations in the manager's absence, overseeing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, and maintaining safeguarding standards.
· Leadership & Management: Support staff supervision, lead room evaluations, and help organise staff rotas.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Act as deputy designated safeguarding lead and ensure adherence to health and safety policies.
- Curriculum & Quality: Monitor children's progress and maintain an engaging indoor and outdoor learning environment.
- Parent Partnerships: Build strong relationships with families and handle inquiries or feedback professionally.
Person Specification & Requirements
- Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years; management training is a plus.
- Experience: Proven supervisory background or experience as a room leader in an early years setting.
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework and regulatory inspection standards.

Responsibilities and Duties
Main Duties:
- The Deputy Manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the nursery and manage a high quality standard in the nursery.
- To ensure that the nursery is safe, stimulating and compliant with EYFS, Ofsted, Local Authorities, relevant bodies and safeguarding requirements.
- To manage and deliver against agreed Key Performance Indicators and aspects of nursery financial and operational management
- Promote positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues in addition to providing leadership in training staff.
Your role will include:
- Ensuring high standards of care and education of all the children in accordance with statutory requirements
- Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
- Implementing the EYFS curriculum
- Ensuring the nurseries policies and procedures are followed throughout the setting and developing/implementing them if needed
- Contributing and participating in the development of new ideas
- Ensuring the nursery conforms to and exceeds the requirements of Ofsted
- Keeping up to date on all childcare issues
- Ensuring that the ratios are maintained at all times
- Contributing to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the nursery
- Ordering and maintaining equipment and resources
- Organising and monitoring children at the setting
- Ensuring all staff carry out regular risk assessment checks both inside and outside the setting
- Managing staff annual leave requests to ensure staffing requirements are met
- Providing constructive, honest feedback to support and encourage all the staff
- Working closely with outside agencies
- Maintaining accurate and up to date personnel records for all employees within the nursery
Qualifications and Skills
All candidates must have:
- A minimum of a Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent or above
- First Aid certification
- Previous experience as a room leader or deputy manager
- The ability to lead a team
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Good knowledge of Safeguarding procedures
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Great time keeping and attendance record
- Good IT skills
