This is a one-year fixed term post to cover an internal staff secondment.
Are you passionate about sport, health and wellbeing? Are you a marketing professional who wants to make a meaningful impact on the student experience?
We're looking for a creative and strategic Marketing and Campaigns Officer (Sport and Health) to help us raise the profile of sport, fitness and wellbeing across Manchester Met. You'll play a leading role in shaping how students and staff engage with our sport and health offer—developing campaigns, managing digital channels, and producing compelling content that inspires our community to get active and stay well.
About the team
Working within the Student Services Operations team, you'll be the key marketing adviser for sport and health, collaborating closely with the Strategic Lead for Sport and colleagues across the University. You'll lead on the planning and delivery of year‑round campaigns, oversee digital marketing activity, and manage the creation of high‑quality assets that bring our sport and wellbeing story to life.
Our Sport team sits within Student Services, supporting thousands of students and staff to access fitness facilities, wellbeing activities, sports clubs, and events. You'll join a friendly, collaborative and ambitious group, committed to enhancing the student experience and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
You'll also work closely with colleagues in External Relations, Student Communications, and across academic and professional services teams to ensure that communications related to sport and health are visible, engaging and aligned with wider University priorities.
What you'll be doing
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of a sport, fitness and health marketing strategy, managing the sport marketing budget.
- Manage and produce a wide range of marketing materials, ensuring they are high‑quality, audience‑appropriate and on brand.
- Oversee the Sport website, ensuring content is engaging, accurate and up to date.
- Lead digital marketing campaigns to increase awareness and participation in sport and fitness activities.
- Create and commission video, photography and social media content, working with external suppliers where needed.
- Plan and deliver key events, including Manchester Varsity, open days, visit days, and Student Services campaigns such as Welcome and Induction.
- Conduct marketing research, competitor benchmarking and feedback analysis to inform improvements and demonstrate impact.
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
- A confident and creative marketer with experience delivering integrated campaigns across digital and offline channels.
- Skilled in copywriting, content creation, event management and design direction.
- An excellent communicator, comfortable presenting to a range of stakeholders.
- Experienced in using content management systems and social media platforms.
- Able to analyse data, evaluate performance and produce clear, insightful reports.
You'll also bring:
- A degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications or a related field, preferably within higher education.
- A flexible approach, with willingness to support occasional evening and weekend activity.
How to apply
Please submit:
- A CV, and
- A detailed covering letter explaining how you meet the criteria set out in the Person Specification, with clear evidence drawn from your experience.
Shortlisting will be based on the information provided in your covering letter.
