We are an independent, family-run estate agency with a modern, forward-thinking approach to selling property. Our reputation for personalised service, professional expertise and results has established Ben Rose as the number one selling agent in Lancashire.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a confident and driven Sales Consultant to join our central team at our Head Office in Chorley.
This isn’t a traditional estate agency negotiator role. It is a genuine sales position for someone who enjoys speaking to people, building relationships, following up opportunities and, most importantly, winning business.
You don’t need to have worked in estate agency before. While property experience would be an advantage, we are much more interested in finding someone with a strong sales background, the right personality and a genuine desire to succeed. We can teach you the property industry; we’re looking for someone who can bring the sales ability.
The Role
A large part of the role involves speaking to homeowners after one of our valuers has visited their property.
These are people who are already considering selling their home and have invited Ben Rose to provide a valuation. Your job is to build on that relationship, understand their circumstances, answer their questions, overcome any concerns and demonstrate why Ben Rose is the right agent to sell their property.
You’ll be responsible for consistently following up these opportunities and converting them into new instructions across all four of our branches.
The role goes beyond valuation follow-up. You’ll proactively identify further opportunities within our database, including previous valuation enquiries and people who may be considering selling but aren’t currently on the market.
You’ll also work with some of our existing vendors, reviewing the performance of their property and having confident, constructive conversations about what we can do to generate more interest. This may include discussing marketing, buyer feedback, market conditions, pricing strategy and, where appropriate, recommending a change to the asking price.
This is a role for somebody who wants to make things happen rather than wait for the phone to ring.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Following up homeowners after valuations and converting opportunities into new instructions
- Building genuine relationships and understanding each homeowner’s individual circumstances and motivation
- Confidently asking for the business and explaining why they should choose Ben Rose
- Handling objections and having comfortable, professional conversations around price, fees and value
- Maintaining regular contact with prospective clients rather than allowing opportunities to go cold
- Identifying new business opportunities within our existing database
- Re-engaging previous valuation enquiries and prospective sellers
- Reviewing existing properties that aren’t generating the expected level of interest
- Advising vendors on marketing, buyer feedback, market conditions and pricing strategy
- Working closely with our Valuation, Onboarding and branch teams to maximise opportunities across the business
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring every opportunity is properly followed up
Who We’re Looking For
Previous sales experience is important to us, but estate agency experience isn’t essential.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is naturally confident and comfortable speaking to people on the telephone
- Has a proven sales mindset and enjoys winning business
- Is motivated by targets, results and earning commission
- Can build rapport quickly and establish genuine trust
- Is comfortable asking for the business rather than waiting for somebody to make a decision
- Can handle objections and rejection without losing motivation
- Is persistent without being pushy
- Is personable and understands that good sales comes from listening and understanding the customer, not simply talking at them
- Is highly organised and excellent at following up
- Takes ownership of their opportunities and doesn’t need to be continually prompted
- Is comfortable having sometimes difficult conversations around price and value
- Wants to develop, improve and become one of the strongest performers in the team
Previous estate agency or property experience would be beneficial, but it isn’t a requirement. If you’re an excellent salesperson from another industry, we’d be very interested in hearing from you.
Earning Potential
The role offers a base salary together with an uncapped, performance-based commission structure.
There are multiple opportunities to earn commission through the business, and there is no cap on what a successful consultant can earn. The more business you generate and the better you perform, the greater your earning potential.
