Job Purpose:
As a Personal Tutor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students through their educational journey. Your core responsibility is to deliver tailored coaching and pastoral support to maximise each student’s potential. You will foster a motivational environment, helping students set and achieve aspirational targets, produce student progress reviews, while addressing barriers to success. The role requires flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to student engagement and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-enrolment and enrolment
- Assist with student enrolment processes and induction activities in August and at the start of each academic year in August
- Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the college-wide induction programme
- Tutorial programme
- Plan, deliver, and review an engaging tutorial programme aligned with college values and student needs
- Facilitate workshops on the Careers Education programme and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion topics
- Collect and act upon student feedback in line with college quality processes (e.g., Student Voice, Self-Assessment Reports
- Individual student progress reviews and action planning
- Conduct regular 1:1 progress reviews with students, setting clear and measurable targets
- Monitor student attendance, engagement, and attainment using college systems; implement interventions where necessary
- Support students in accessing enrichment activities and monitor their involvement
- Work with students to track their intended destinations (e.g., progression to further education, apprenticeships, or employment), and monitor their actual destinations post-college to assess success
- Proactively address concerns and referrals related to learner welfare or academic performance
- Signpost students to internal and external support services (e.g., Careers, Safeguarding, Counselling)
- Deal promptly with complaints raised by students and, where necessary, refer them to the next stage
- Communicate effectively with parents/carers and teaching staff to ensure cohesive support.
- Provide guidance and references to support student progression into further/higher education, training, or employment
- Record keeping
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, targets, attendance, Directed Study, and progress using systems such as EBS/onTrack and Markbook.
- Ensure all administrative tasks are completed in line with college procedures and deadlines
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Contribute to self-assessment and continuous improvement processes within the tutorial framework.
- Ensure all tutorial activities align with college policies, standards, and best practice in student support
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- To carry out all duties in accordance with the College’s Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.

Pay: £32,540.00-£35,567.00 per year
