Reporting to: Quality and Compliance Manager.

Main Purpose: Responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company policies, procedures and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. Working closely with other production department managers/supervisors to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximise productivity.
Ensure BRC/Quality policies/procedures are updated, and always communicated and adhered to, by all departments. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To cover Quality Manager role during holidays/absence.
- Direct the quality team which includes quality coordinators, who are responsible for enforcing good manufacturing practices and Quality standards, to meet product safety and quality requirements.
- Proactively contribute to site improvements by attending quality review action meetings with the wider operations team.
- Meet the companies Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s) through an agreed set of KPI’s.
- Responsible for compliance of the BRCGS programme for food packaging suppliers, ensuring compliance to current issue published by BRCGS and communicating to all departments.
- Ensure the HARM/HACCP process is maintained.
- Amend procedures when required and ensure these are communicated, ensuring that where applicable this is also communicated to other sites to ensure alignment and compliance continues throughout the group.
- Manage, communicate, and implement training where required, because of changes to the company procedures.
- Designated person for new staff training in regards of quality requirements/expectations on the factory floor.
- Communicate with suppliers to ensure approval for supply and appropriate documentation received.
- Police and enforce PPE, workwear, hygiene standards, cleaning procedures and general housekeeping
- Carry out internal audits in compliance with company procedures ( Quality System, GMP, Traceability), and ensure actions are carried out by relevant departments.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation and amend and communicate all relevant policies/information.
- Ensure the goods inwards sample testing on raw materials and finished products is carried out and any issues are raised with the site General Manager and appropriate internal departments.
- Communicate with customers and relevant departments and managers regarding customer complaints and issues.
- Support root cause analysis investigations and associated activities during corrective and preventative actions in relation to quality-related product issues both internal or external, and compliance audits. This is achieved through collaboration with all relevant department managers/supervisors.
- Record, analyse and report all statistical information including but not limited to – raw materials testing results, cleaning, internal NCR’s, customer complaints, audit results.
- Support Quality and Compliance Manager with implementation of best practice quality systems.
- Identify opportunities for improving quality/performance and communicate to relevant Manager.
- Co-ordinate and support on-site audits conducted by external providers.
- Create Job packs for Thermoforming via the onsite visual planner.
Personal Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- To follow all site rules and responsibilities under the company’s Health & Safety at Work Policy.
- To ensure you use all equipment within the production area correctly and it is properly maintained.
- Report any safety infringement and ensure any health and safety issues/suggestions are forwarded to the Health and Safety Officer.
- To know the locations of emergency exits and practice correct evacuation procedures.
- Ensure the correct handling procedures for lifting and potentially hazardous products are followed.
- Operatives must be aware of waste separation and recycling requirements.
- To carry out all duties in accordance with Company’s policy on Health & Safety, wearing protective clothing/equipment supplied, at all times.
Other Responsibilities
- To clock in and out at the start and finish of shift to record attendance.
- To work as trained, regarding all tasks undertaken within their role.
- To maintain the required performance and accuracy standards.
- To work flexibly on whichever duty (as per training/qualification), when and where required, whilst on shift.
Quality
- Strictly adhere to BRC dress code, PPE and hygiene standards throughout the site at all times.
- To be responsible for working to the requirements of the company’s Quality Policy and procedure.
- To make suggestions as to how the Quality systems can be improved.
Housekeeping
- To comply with all Hygiene regulations stipulated within the BRC procedures, trained out at induction.
- All tasks that contribute to the cleaning, and maintaining of good, safe standards in all operating areas. This includes the clearing of litter, wrap and debris from aisles, the mopping of small liquid spills, the sweeping of fine debris.
- All agreed housekeeping, 5S workplace organisation procedures and good manufacturing practices are sustained throughout the shift.
- To make every effort to conserve power and minimize waste.
- To wear the uniform and safety wear provided, keeping it clean and tidy at all times.
Communication
- To communicate accurately and effectively with all members of staff any information required to ensure the performance of your role and company performance, and ensure any issues are raised immediately in order to make sure they are resolved quickly.
Security
- To ensure understanding and compliance with the Company’s security procedures including those for IT.
- To report any unauthorized personnel seen on the premises, and any incident of damage or theft.
