Lawrence Kurt Solicitors is expanding its consultant team and is looking for experienced legal professionals who have their own cases, client following, referral network or established source of work.
We are currently seeking consultants with substantial experience in at least one of the following practice areas:
- Criminal Law
- Immigration Law
- Family Law
- Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution
- Conveyancing
Applicants do not need experience in all of the above areas. However, you must be experienced and capable of independently handling matters in at least one of these practice areas.
The Opportunity
This is a self-employed consultancy position on a fee-sharing basis.
The opportunity is aimed at experienced solicitors, licensed conveyancers or suitably qualified legal professionals who already have their own clients, cases, introducers, referral network or reliable source of new instructions.
You will be able to develop and manage your own practice while operating through an established solicitors' firm and benefiting from the firm's infrastructure, compliance framework and professional support.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your area of expertise, you will be responsible for:
- Bringing in and developing your own clients and matters.
- Managing your own caseload from initial instruction through to conclusion.
- Providing high-quality legal advice within your specialist area.
- Conducting matters independently and competently.
- Maintaining regular and professional communication with clients.
- Managing court, tribunal, transaction and other relevant deadlines.
- Ensuring files are maintained in accordance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
- Progressing matters efficiently and managing billing.
- Building relationships with clients, introducers and referral sources.
- Generating repeat business and developing your own practice.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have substantial practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Criminal Law
- Immigration Law
- Family Law
- Civil Litigation
- Conveyancing
- Be capable of independently managing matters within their specialist area.
- Have their own existing cases, client following, referral network or proven source of work.
- Have excellent client-care and communication skills.
- Be commercially minded and motivated to grow their own caseload.
- Have strong organisational and file-management skills.
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain high professional and regulatory standards.
Please note: this role is specifically intended for experienced practitioners who can introduce their own work. The firm is not offering a ready-made caseload.

Remuneration
Self-employed consultant position – fee-share basis.
The fee-sharing percentage and arrangements will be discussed with suitable candidates and may depend on:
- Experience;
- Area of expertise;
- Existing caseload;
- Anticipated level of work introduced;
- Expected fee income; and
- Level of support required from the firm.
